Mar.22, 2004--my blog, my precious

Ok kittens, don't faint just because I made a light layout. *gasp* It doesn't happen very often, I think this is the 4th one in 3 years. But I saw Gollum and had to adopt him and the only color he looks good on is white! He is linked to his creator, but for now, he has a home in my blog. He is my blog guardian. Don't even think about hot linking him either. If you do you will definately not end up with him on your site. heh heh Go to Bibi's site and get him for your very own.
Have a great week kittens!

Mar.18, 2004--They caught the sniper!

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The man suspected in two dozen sniper shootings that have terrorized motorists along Ohio highways was arrested at a Las Vegas motel early Wednesday.

Charles A. McCoy Jr., 28, was taken into custody two days after he was named as a suspect in the shootings that left one woman dead and pierced cars and homes in the Columbus area, said Las Vegas police Lt. Christopher Van Cleef.

"We got him in custody without incident," Van Cleef said.

Police were told of McCoy's whereabouts by a man who spotted him at the Stardust casino, recognized him from media reports and found out where he was staying, Van Cleef said. Las Vegas police staked out the motel and arrested McCoy in the parking lot.

"He wasn't armed, but we haven't been in the motel room or his vehicle yet," Van Cleef said. He said police have impounded the car that McCoy was driving.

Authorities had said McCoy had a history of mental illness and was believed to be armed, with "suicidal or homicidal tendencies." His family disputed that description, calling McCoy troubled but peaceful.

"I knew it would happen without incident because he was a very passive individual," McCoy's sister Amy Walton said on NBC's "Today" show. "This came as a great shock to our family."

When asked what she would say to her brother, Walton said, "We can't wait to talk to you. Everything will be OK."

Police have not suggested a motive for the sniper attacks, and few details have emerged about their suspect.

Conrad Malsom, 60, of Las Vegas said he told authorities he met McCoy at the Stardust casino Tuesday. He said he offered McCoy a slice of pizza but recognized the disheveled-looking man with a darkening beard.

McCoy was reading a copy of USA Today that featured his photograph, Malsom said.

"In my heart and mind, I knew this was the man the police in Ohio were looking for," Malsom told The Associated Press.

He said McCoy told him his name was "Mike" and that he was staying at the nearby motel. When he left the casino, Malsom found "bizarre writing" on an 81/2 by 14-inch sports betting sheet the man left behind.

"It filled the whole sheet — about 30 lines," Malsom said. "Each line started with 'You' or 'You are' but you can't read it, you can't read any of it."

He said he turned the sheet over to authorities, along with a water glass, match book and lunch wrappers that McCoy left behind.

FBI special agent Todd Palmer said McCoy is being processed in the agency's office and likely will be transferred to the U.S. attorney's office. Authorities said McCoy had been questioned about the shootings, but not charged.

An arrest warrant accuses McCoy of felonious assault in a shooting with a 9 mm handgun that damaged a house Dec. 15.

The 24 shootings around several highways on the southern outskirts of Columbus pierced homes and a school, dented school buses, flattened tires and shattered windshields. They began in May.

The shootings prompted commuters to take detours and schools to cancel classes or hold recess indoors. Police increased patrols and the state installed cameras on poles along Interstate 270.

The only person struck, Gail Knisley, 62, was killed as a friend drove her to a doctor's appointment Nov. 25. Lab tests showed that bullets from nine of the shootings — including the one that killed Knisley — were fired from the same gun.

Edward Cable of Lucasville, whose minivan was hit by a bullet as he was driving on Nov. 21, said Wednesday he was glad to see McCoy was picked up, "not so much for myself, but for anybody else who's worried about getting him off the street."

Authorities haven't said what evidence led them to McCoy. Newspaper and television reports Tuesday said McCoy's family gave investigators at least one of his guns.

In a missing person's report filed Monday, McCoy's mother, Ardith, said her son withdrew $600 from a bank account and left home Friday for a mall restaurant and bar with video games.

Neighbors on McCoy's street said they didn't know much about the suspect or his mother. A check of court records in nearby counties turned up a handful of traffic tickets for McCoy, but no other criminal or civil charges.

The tan garage doors at the house were splattered with three eggs Tuesday. Police said they did not know who hurled the eggs or when they were thrown.

McCoy's high school football coach said he's praying for his former player.

"He was an ornery kid, but a lot of kids are ornery at that age," said Brian Cross, who coached McCoy for four years at Grove City High School. "I don't remember him doing anything extreme."

---------------------------------

Well, he sure has now. My roommate goes to Columbus all the time, at last I can stop worrying about him!

Mar.16, 2004--it's not the 15th anymore...

Hey kittens! What's new? Tell me something good...
I have been quite busy. I joined a Vote Exchange board for my family site Paulina's Playground, and I'm visiting all 95 sites. *whew* I started last night and I'm only on 26! So many beautiful sites to see and guestbooks to sign. I'm glad all my sites aren't so people oriented. *lol* I mean I'm only in 2 site competitions and 1 VE board because I can't handle more than that. I'm new to this vote trading thing, and I won't vote blindly without exploring a site first. I've seen so many sites on freeservers I wish I could host! If you want to browse the list or get involved, here's the link. Vote from Your Heart Member Listing. Enjoy!

Mar.15, 2004--it's still the 15th??

Oy! Never fear, ~Mel is here! Just cuz I haven't been blogging doesn't mean I haven't been busy. heh I've been here and here. I joined this and applied there and surfed near and far to bring you the nicest sites I could find. It depends what you like, I guess. I like fantasy stuff such as fae, elves, unicorns, and shiny happy things. I've been signing many guestbooks, I forgot about them since the advent of tagboards! I'll be flitting about the net tonight visiting my cyber pals and sprinkling faery dust as I go. Have a happy! *ker-choo!*

My my, that bandwidth graphic works wonders. Yes indeedy.
Hello kittens! I spent the night at the Puppy Couple's house and had so much fun! We had a wonderful dinner (Christy is an excellant cook! Her meat balls were divine.) We then watched "School of Rock" with Jack Black. I laughed so hard! That movie is awesome, it's about the roots of rock and roll and stresses how it's the music that is imporatant, not the fame and glamour. The 10 year old lead guitarist blew me away! He was...just...awesome and talented and only 10 years old! The drummer has lots of talent too. (I'm partial to guitarists and drummers.) All the kids were talented amd great and Jack is so funny. We had a good night and I'm going back Thursday so we can watch one of my favorite John Cusack movies "Hot Pursuit".
Well, tomorrow is *hump* day. I keep telling my friends "just 3 more days until Friday!" lol Have a good evening kittens. TTFN.

I really don't like direct linkers. I'm sick and tired of people direct linking my graphics, so my OdsGirl tribute page and all it's graphics are no more. And if you people insist on direct linking, this is the graphic you will end up with on your site, understand?

isn't this pretty? Do you want this on your site?

Copy images to your hard drive and save to a free image server, I even provide a list! *points right* Gad, people.

Paulina's Picks 1 & 2 and lots of unique faery sites to Visit The Fae and Fairy Links 1 & 2. So many pretty sites. I joined several fae listings as I love to surf them. All the sites are pretty much graphic intense, but the fae are beautiful and the sites delightful. Enjoy!

happy birthday Liz! Today is Liz's birthday! Go give her some birthday luv! Love ya Lizzy-Poo!
Ho hum, not much going on. My roommate came home in time to pay the bills and he's gone again. lol He was gone almost all of February. His car has a tune up, new muffler system and new brakes. =) He's 20 years old with a car, of course he's not going to stay home on a Friday night! Not like us hermits...^_^
Well, Friday nights are usually dead on my end of the net, so I'm going to make some new graphics/pages for Paulina's Playground. Have a happy!

ooba chuka! Time to blog, baby! Hi kittens! My carpal tunnel is so bad today. My arm hurts clear into the back of my shoulder. I'm out of Advil, and Tylenol just ain't kickin' it. Ow! Hope everyone had a great *hump* day. Friday March 5 is Liz's birthday! Go give her some birthday wishes and luv.
I wanted to tell you about my darling artist/web designer of the moment. I am so excited! One of my favorite artists is Penny Parker. Well, I found her website today and she makes web sets too out of her own art! How cool is that? And she has links to some awesome web designers, I made a whole page of Text Links so I can find these designers in a hurry. I found out today that Moon & Back Graphics might close down due to more traffic than their server wants to handle. I love their sets. I went and downloaded all the sets I want as they are deleting them soon. What a bummer!

Good gracious golly gee willikers andy! Hey kittens. I figured I should give you a decent blog entry, I've been so boring lately! lol I haven't ranted or given an opinion about anything. How sad of me. I've been kind of avoiding the news, I'm on overload with death and violence and abuse of kids. I never watch TV because I loathe advertising. (You need this car! Drink this beverage and you'll get laid. bleh) I do watch Animal Planet. ^_^ The Discovery channel rocks. Yes indeedy.
I watched the first 2 LOTR movies so much, I'm dreaming of Frodo and living in the Shire. There are so many beautiful people in those movies. Viggo is so hot, Elijah is tragic and cute, Orlando is ok. I like his acting more than his looks though he is easy on the eyes. I wish he was a little more buff. I can't wait to see the new Brad Pitt movie. Yummy. Yup, I'm ready to see me a bit of man flesh. I'll try not to drool in my popcorn. hee I think Liv is so pretty as an Elfin princess and Kate is luminous. Excellant movies! If I really want to droll, I can watch Pirates of the Carribean. Johnny Depp plays quirky actors so well and looks so hot doing it. Good lord, I need me a man!
*voice of reason* Ok, maybe not. ^_^
Oh my. I have people to visit and pages to create and html is asking me to dance so I leave you now kittens. I've been hoping my hacker went away, but I'm still not adding comments for a long time. Months of blogging gone in a single night...*shakes self*
Ok, enough of that. Have a good night and happy early *hump* day! =)

Hello kittens. Your wayward ~Mel is back. I had no internet for 8 days! I spent 4 of those days at the Puppy Couple's house watching the first 2 LOTRs over and over. I read 5 books and made about 10 pages @ Paulina's Playground which I uploaded today. I also made some alternative layouts to use for whatever. I had 236 email messages to wade through and now I'm tired. I have to help my deaf roommate get plates for his car today, so I should go to sleep. I can always play later. heh
Have a good Tuesday kittens!
